Coronation Street legend Amanda Barrie has thanked the ambulance service after accidentally electrocuting herself in her London flat.

The 83-year-old star, who’s best known for playing Alma in Corrie, suffered the nasty incident earlier this week.

But, she got through the scare apparently unscathed and thanked her “heroes” for coming to her rescue.

@Ldn_Ambulance⁩ Thankyou to my five heroes. So, last night I lit up the West End by electrocuting myself in my own flat. Eek! Magnificant #FirstResponders came to my rescue. Very scary but am still here, thanks also to @uclh God bless the ⁦@NHSukpic.twitter.com/dcUwE57hYE

Only Fools and Horse star John Challis, who played Boycie in the legendary comedy, was among the people offering messages of support to Amanda.

John tweeted: “Amanda Barrie! What are you like?! So happy you are unharmed. XX.” Of course, Amanda and John were both in Benidorm, with Amanda playing Psychic Sue and John taking on the role of Monty Staines.

As well as Benidorm and Coronation Street, Amanda has also enjoyed roles in Bad Girls, Doctors and of course as Cleopatra in Carry On Cleo.
